Conversations: A Musical Dialogue

$0.00

Speakers: Gregg Kimball and Cluny Brown
Friday, April 17th
10:30 a.m.
Cost: FREE

Music is a complex interaction between musicians and their audiences. The audience actively responds to the sounds and rhythms of the music while instruments perform a complex interplay. Call-and-response connects voices, human and instrumental. Sometimes the lyrics are themselves a conversation: lovers playfully bantering or sinners negotiating with their mortality. This multimedia show will explore the meaning of lyrical dialogs from a variety of folk traditions including blues, country, and sacred music traditions. Historian Gregg D. Kimball and educator Cluny Brown will perform live music and illustrate their songs with a rich selection of historical images.
