Barrier Islands Center's The Many Faces of Assateague by Curtis and Lynn Badger
$20.00
Assateague has played many roles on the Eastern Shore. It was home to a small village that survived for over two centuries. Its red and white striped lighthouse has warned sailors of the treacherous waters for over 150 years, and the Life Saving and Coast Guard Stations have rescued many crewmen and passengers from shipwrecked boats along the coast. Today, it is home to the famous wild ponies of Assateague and, in the summer, attracts thousands of beachgoers and pony watchers. In winter, visitors come for the birds that flock to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
